Ever since I was a kid, I have enjoyed watching painters and builders do their job. It’s not just exciting to see how a house of a school or a store comes into being. It’s also pretty cool to watch people doing such important and high-stakes work. Here in Oakland, there are a number of construction sites where the multi-ethnic crew of craftsmen and other workers are transforming the face of the city. I spotted this painter because he was jacketless and in short sleeves on one of the coldest days of the year. I’m not sure where he was headed, but the look of seriousness on his face suggested that he might be on his way to find a nice warm jacket.
